Master'sPrograminServiceEngineering16●FeaturesoftheDegreeProgram○Theworld'srstdegreeprogrambasedontheempiricalresearchbyourfacultyOurempiricalresearchhasshownthatplanninganddevelopmentofsuccessfulservicesinJapanhassimilaritieswiththetargetcostingmethodsusedbyJapanesemanufacturingrms.Thesemethodologiesaresystematizedusingknowledgefromfourareas:(1)scienceofeectiveness,(2)scienceofeciency,(3)artofintegration,and(4)ongoingevolutionafterinitialimplementation.Basedonsuchacademicdiscoveries,ourprogramdevelopshigh-levelprofessionalscapableofimaginingthefuturebyrealizingthebenetsofbasictheoryapplicationandsystematicdevelopmentofnewand/orbetterser-vices.Uponcompletion,studentsareawardedaMasterofEngineeringinServiceScience.OurvisionistoeducateourstudentsthroughcooperationwithJapaneseservice-sectororganizationswhilecontributingtoregionalde-velopmentandgeneratingadvancesintechnologyandpuretheoreticalresearch.CompetencesoftheDegreeProgram●Studentsareabletoacquirethefollowingcompetencesupuntilcompletion.GenericCompetencesMaster'sProgramAbilitytouseknowledgeManagementabilityCommunicationabilityGroupskillInternationalcharacterSpecicComptencesMaster'sProgramResearchabilityBasicknowledgeandabilitytosetreseachtasksandcarryoutaresearchplanintheeldofserviceengineeringSpecializedknowledgeAdvancedspecializedknowledgeandcommandoftheeldofserviceengineeringEthicalviewEthicalviewandethicalknowledgeappropriateforhighly-skilledprofessionalsintheeldofserviceengineering●AchievementLevelAssessmentSystem(ALAS)ALASenablesstudentstoconrmtheirachievementstatusrelatedtoknowledgeandabilities(generic/speciccompetences)whichmustbeacquiredandimprovetheirlearningplanwiththeirsupervisors.Master'sProgram・ALASisconductedeverysemester(fourtimesintotal).Inthissystem,studentshaveameetingwiththeirsupervisorsandchecktheirachievementstatusofthefollowingitemstogether:learningstatusoftheninecompulsorycourses,achievementstatusofthespecializedcourses,andprogressoftheMaster'sthesis.・SpecialSeminarinServiceEngineering/SpecialResearchWorkinServiceEngineeringarereviewedandassessedinthefollowingthreephases:theResearchDesignPresentationinthe1styear,theMid-PresentationandtheFinalPresentationinthe2ndyear.
