Loans

University graduate students can take advantage of the following loan programs.

1. Student Emergency Funds

University students are eligible to receive an emergency loan of up to 30,000 yen (interest free), repayable within one month in principle, when in urgent need for money due to unexpected accidents, delayed remittances, sickness and so on.

2. Shihokai Emergency Loans

The Shihokai (a support organization for the students of the University of Tsukuba) provides loans of up to 250,000 yen (interest free), repayable within one year, to students who are short of funds for their daily living expenses due to accidents or natural disasters. However, a joint guarantor is required.

3. Lump-Sum Loan Service Provided by the University of Tsukuba Support Association for International Students

The University of Tsukuba Support Association for International Students provides a temporary aid fund of up to 100,000 yen (interest free), repayable prior to the end of the sixth month after the month in which the loan is made, to foreign students who, due to special and unforeseen circumstances, need funds for their daily living expenses, or urgently need to pay hospital charges due to illness or injury. The provision of this temporary aid fund is determined upon review of the students’ temporary aid fund application.
