Financial Assistance

In addition to the scholarships listed this page, graduate students of the Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering can obtain the following types of financial aid, which will be examined and determined upon the students’ application.

Exemption of admission fee

The admission fee is 282,000 yen, but full or half exemption of the admission fee may be awarded through comprehensive consideration of the student’s academic record and financial situation.

Exemption of tuition fee

The tuition fee is 267,900 yen per half of academic year, but full, half, or one-third exemption of the tuition fee may be awarded through comprehensive consideration of the student’s academic record and financial situation.

Employment as Teaching or Research Assistant

University of Tsukuba employs excellent graduate students as Teaching Assistants (TAs) or Research Assistants (RAs), and pays them salaries to have them assist faculty members in classes and research.
In addition, the Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering, on its own initiative, employs doctoral students as RAs and thus grants half the admission and tuition fees to those whose application for exemption of the tuition fee has not been accepted.

Tsukuba Scholarship

The University of Tsukuba offers 80,000 yen/month as a scholarship to its international graduate students not receiving any other scholarships, who are excellent both in their caliber and academic performance, for a maximum of one year.
