Graduation Requirements

In order to finish the doctoral program, you must be in the program for three or more years, acquire credits of the subjects specified by your doctoral program and pass a thesis defense and final examination. The methods of taking classes and the kinds of degrees to be granted by each doctoral program are as follows:

Doctoral Program in Policy and Planning Sciences

Method of taking classes:

It is necessary to acquire 20 or more credits in total, consisting of 2 or more credits from Basic Classes common to the Graduate School, 4 or more from Basic Specialized Classes, and 12 of Specialized Classes.

Degree granted:

Doctor of Philosophy in Policy and Planning Sciences

Doctoral Program in Risk Engineering

Method of taking classes:

It is necessary to acquire 12 or more credits in total, consisting of 8 credits from 2 common subjects and 4 credits or more from specialized subjects in the Doctoral Program in Risk Engineering. Some of the specialized subjects may be replaced with subjects in the Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering or other graduate schools.  The final examination includes assessment of student achievement. Doctoral Program in Computer Science

Method of taking classes:

It is necessary to acquire 10 or more credits in total, consisting of 8 credits from 2 subjects common to the Doctoral Program in Computer Science  (compulsory) and 2 or more credits from common subjects (other than compulsory ones) or specialized subjects, or subjects common to the Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering.

Degree granted:

Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering

Doctoral Program in Intelligent Interaction Technologies

Method of taking classes:

It is necessary to acquire 12 or more credits in total, consisting of 10 credits from 5 subjects common to the Doctoral Program in Intelligent Interaction Technologies (compulsory) and 2 or more credits from specialized subjects or subjects common to all of the graduate schools, or those common to the Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering.

Degree granted:

Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering

Doctoral Program in Engineering Mechanics and Energy

Method of taking classes:

It is necessary to acquire 10 or more credits in total, consisting of 8 credits from 2 subjects common to the Department of Engineering Mechanics and Energy (compulsory) and two or more credits from specialized subjects or subjects common to the Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering.

Degree granted:

Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering
